State Minister Wijewardene visits 'Mihindu Seth Medura'

State Minister of Defence Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene visited the 'Mihindu Seth Medura' in Attitidiya last evening (21st Wednesday, January 2015). He made this inspection visit in order to inquire into the welfare of the resident disable War Heroes there.

Arriving at the healing home for the disable War Heroes the State Minister was received by the inmates and the officials of the home. He later proceeded to visit the facilities of the institute and look into the various welfare facilities accorded to the inmates and also inquired into the administrative matters of the institute.

State Minister Wijewardene made it a point to personally talk and inquire into the welfare of each resident War Hero.

State Minister Wijewardene was appointed as the State Minister of Defence on 12th January. Since taking charge of the Ministry, the State Minister had assured his commitment in looking into the welfare of the War Heroes and their families.

Speaking to journalists present there State Minister Wijewardene said that he would look into the welfare of the War Heroes who had sacrificed life and limb towards ushering in an era of peace which we all enjoy today. He also expressed his gratitude for all those involved in affording the War Heroes proper attention and good care.

He noted that the government will continue with all the welfare initiatives that had been afforded to the War Heroes and that he would pay special attention to resolve issues concerning the welfare of the security forces personnel.

A special souvenir prepared by the resident War Heroes of the healing home was presented to the State Minister as a memento to mark the occasion.

Additional Secretary of the MOD Mrs. Indu Ratnayake and Commandant of 'Mihindu Seth Medura' Colonel DVP Kariyawasam were also present at the occasion.
